Hi! We discussed [What do novice UX-ers struggle with?] and found the answers can be sorted into 3 themes.
Thank you for sharing your struggles and offering encouragement. I hope that by becoming aware of the real struggles, we can constructively help and further the community. Please connect with me if you’re interested to have this conversation!
The 3 themes of struggle:
1. Lack of mentorship and support
Usually UX team of one. Team members do other things and may not understand what you do and why it’s important. You’re a lone ranger in championing UX and pushing things through e.g. getting access to users.
2. Trouble getting started
Too many verticals in UX, don’t know where to start, don’t know where to seek help.
3. Practice-related skills
E.g. Interviewing skills, how much testing is enough, how to ask questions without confirmation bias.
P.S. Don’t worry, you didn’t imagine it. I did say 4 themes yesterday but had more time to think today and revised it.
