The 60th UXSG Meetup was held on Thursday, 19 September 2019 from 7pm at 111 Middle Road, National Design Centre Level 2, Auditorium & Training studio rooms 1-5.
This month we have curated 3 concurrent workshops to experiment new format and content.
#1 – Giving and Receiving Feedback
The ability to give and receive feedback is a core skill in design (and life!), yet the word ‘feedback’ often brings up anxiety or associations with “I did something wrong / badly”. In this short but practical workshop, our volunteer Yong Lin will partner with Samantha Yuen to introduce a feedback model that you can use to articulate or work with feedback effectively.
#2 – Designing a Fearless Workplace
Have you ever walked into a meeting and had a question or an idea that you wanted to share but didn’t? Have you ever been told to “not rock the boat” or “it’s just how the way things worked”? Why are we afraid to make those suggestions to change?
As a practitioner in a knowledge-based economy, part of our role is to paint a future that isn’t a current reality. To design a new possibility through research, products, services, strategies or relationships. So if fear gets in the way and we walk away without raising an idea or a concern, how can we possibly make our best impact?
In this experimental group-learning session, Jonathan Yap & Jonathan Eng will help you examine your workplace experiences and exploring how fear is making us feel unsafe, to be honest with ourselves. Hopefully, you’ll walk away with a decisive step to start taking fear out of your workplace. Check out our light joiner pack.
#3 – Empathy Box
